Turning Social Challenges into Management Resources.

Yesterday, I participated in the Multi-Sector Dialogue, jointly organized by Keizai Doyukai, the Japan Social Innovation and Investment Foundation , and the Impact Startup Association.

The dialogue brought together business leaders, nonprofits, and impact startups with a shared goal: solving social challenges through collaboration across sectors.

One idea stayed with me throughout the day.

Social challenges are becoming management resources.

For example:

Refugees are no longer seen only as people who need support; they are becoming an important source of talent in countries facing labor shortages.

Elderly people experiencing social isolation can become mentors and community builders for younger generations.

Young people who have dropped out of school or withdrawn from society often possess untapped potential that can become the next generation of industrial talent.

Rural transportation challenges are creating entirely new mobility markets.

Non-financial information—such as human capital, sustainability, and governance—is rapidly becoming a core driver of enterprise value.

What appears to be a social issue can become a management resource when viewed from a different perspective.

I see this as a shift from the Social Cycle to the Enterprise Cycle.

As AI democratizes knowledge, analysis, and efficiency, competitive advantage will no longer come primarily from doing things faster or cheaper.

Instead, it will come from defining value differently.

We also tend to believe that the society we interact with every day represents society as a whole.

It does not.

Beyond our daily lives are refugees, socially isolated elderly people, young people struggling to find opportunities, and many others whose realities often remain invisible.

They are all part of our society.

At VURA, I am committed to looking beyond what is immediately visible, discovering new sources of value, and transforming them into enterprise value.

Through the redefinition of enterprise value, we hope to contribute to a future where more people around the world can thrive.
